Walk off your holiday meal with a stroll through The Farmers' Museum’s 1840s country village as the museum opens its doors on the Friday and Saturday following Thanksgiving Day. There is no charge for admission. Registration is not required. Please consider a donation of $10/family or $5/individual. All donations benefit The Farmers' Museum's Education Programs.
The museum is the perfect setting to spend time with family and friends over the holiday weekend. You’ll find blacksmiths forging cooking utensils throughout the day inside the Peleg Field Blacksmith Shop. Be sure to visit the Print Shop Exhibit in the Main Barn to see historic recipes printed using a 19th-century printing press. Stop by Bump Tavern to learn about traditional cooking methods and recipes. The Pharmacy Exhibit will also prepare bygone medications that help aid digestion after a big Thanksgiving meal.
Bring the entire family! Kids can catch a glimpse of the heritage-breed turkeys, visit the farm animals, or enjoy a relaxing walk around the museum's 19th-century country village.
The Crossroads Café will be open from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. each day. Find hot soups, scones, apple turnovers, cookies, coffee, and hot cocoa. The Café will also be serving ham and turkey boxed lunches.
Find beautiful holiday items and greeting cards at The Farmers' Museum Store and interesting merchandise based on the history and culture of New York and rural America. In the Main Barn, you’ll find an array of items, including unique Made at The Farm gifts available for the holidays. Starting November 29, the main museum store is open daily for holiday shopping from 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. through December 24.
Give the gift of Museum Membership. Find great deals on various levels of membership–only available on-site.
Double your fun with a visit to Fenimore Art Museum – just across the road – with several exhibitions on view, including the popular Pete Souza: Two Presidents, One Photographer, and Blue Gardens: Photographs by Gross and Daley, both on view through December 31.
