Lavender water is scented water. The recipe produced at the museum is an 1840’s English preparation. It can be used in much the same manner as perfume. It was also used as a flavoring for drinks as well. Recently lavender has become a popular flavoring added to ice cream, cookies, wine and even mead. As a fragrance it is also wonderful when sprayed on linens.
All of the products produced for resale are reproduced using recipes found in an 1845 encyclopedia and used by a doctor from the 1840’s The products are typical of the sort of non medicinal items sold by pharmacies during the 1840’s.
