Groundskeeper • Full-time, year-round position
Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers’ Museum have an opening for a full-time groundskeeper. The successful candidate will be a steady, reliable worker and enjoy working outdoors year-round. Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate power equipment and lift 50 lbs. Experience with basic construction and carpentry a plus. Duties include maintaining grounds, soil preparation and planting, plowing, and shoveling snow and cleaning and maintaining power equipment, as well as performing light carpentry and repair jobs. This is a full-time position, flexibility necessary, must be willing to work occasional overtime. $15.50-$18 per hour. Security/Safety Guard • Full-time, year- round position
Applicants must have a clean driving license,  be able to walk considerable distances in all weather conditions and have open availability including weekends and holidays. The workday includes using computer based monitoring systems, walking extensive museum grounds, completing incident reports, and troubleshooting for potential hazards. Food Service Worker • Part-time, Seasonal (April – December)
The Farmers Museum and Fenimore Art Museum are seeking motivated food service workers. Ability to follow directions, prepare recipes and to work weekends, events and holidays are necessary. Point of sales knowledge is helpful. A background in food service is preferred, but not necessary.  Pleasant attitude and a professional appearance are required. Reliable transportation a must. Starting wage of $15/hr.

Museum Teachers
The Farmers’ Museum and Fenimore Art Museum seek enthusiastic and engaging seasonal museum teachers to share their knowledge and expertise of the trades of the 19th century. If you enjoy speaking with students and visitors of all ages this is the job for you! Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills and be comfortable speaking in a one-on-one or group setting. Starting wage of $15/hour.

Assistant STEAM Educator Internship
We are offering a unique interactive learning environment where our museums double as interactive classrooms for students entering 4th – 7th grades. The intern would spend the week before each summer session getting acclimated to the museum grounds, learning materials, and helping with prep work. The weeks that we are in session, the intern would assist in providing instruction, supervision, and support. The intern must be adept at a variety of teaching techniques that are applicable to a museum setting. This includes making activities adaptable to various skill levels, introducing and explaining higher level thinking concepts and helping making museum exhibits more digestible for young minds.

Training will be provided for leading youth group inquiry based historical tours, group discussions, role playing and more. Historical Clothing and Alterations Internship • 10 week summer position (unpaid, for college credit)
The Farmers’ Museum is seeking a summer intern interested in gaining direct hands-on experience in the creation, research, and maintenance of clothing for the museum’s costumed interpreters.  The intern will work closely with museum staff and interpreters on a variety of projects. Projects may include inventory management, cleaning, repairs and alterations of interpreter clothing, creation of new garments, and research of historical styles.  The intern will also take part in implementation of a historic sewing interpretation program.

The Internship is available during a 10-week summer session, with a minimum of two 7-hour days each week. The summer session for 2024 runs from May 30, 2024, to August 11, 2024.  The internship is unpaid and may be used for college credit.
