Museum Interpreters, seasonal • Part-time
The Farmers’ Museum is seeking history-minded, outgoing individuals to work as Interpreters in our mid-19th century rural village and Empire State Carousel. These positions are seasonal (April – October), with employment up to 5 days per week. Training will be provided. An interest in or aptitude for handcraft is helpful but not required for all positions. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills and be comfortable speaking in a one-on-one or group setting. Being a team player and engaging enthusiastically with the public are essential qualities.

 

Museum Teachers, seasonal • Part-time
The Farmers’ Museum and Fenimore Art Museum seek enthusiastic and engaging seasonal museum teachers to share their knowledge and expertise of the trades of the 19th century. If you enjoy speaking with students and visitors of all ages this is the job for you! Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills and be comfortable speaking in a one-on-one or group setting. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.

Human Resources Coordinator – Generalist Position • Full-time
Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers’ Museum have a full-time opening for an HR Coordinator. The successful candidate will be highly professional, confidential, and have an excellent work ethic; be able to prioritize work; have excellent verbal and written communication skills; and be proficient in Microsoft Office software applications. Previous HR experience preferred. Must be familiar with or able to learn how to use an HRIS payroll system and be familiar with or able to learn Federal and NYS employment regulations and compliance rules. Responsibilities include various administrative activities involving health and dental benefits, payroll, retirement, employment policies and procedures, recruitment and staff training. This position requires the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. The salary will be commensurate with experience. This position is generally 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with some flexibility, and comes with a generous benefits package. Food Service Worker • Seasonal (April-December)
The Farmers’ Museum and Fenimore Art Museum are seeking motivated Food Service Workers for food preparation and serving. Ability to read and prepare recipes, knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage, and willingness to clean and sanitize workstations and equipment daily. Positive attitude, professional appearance, and the ability to work weekends and holidays. Point of sales knowledge helpful, ability to stand for 4-6 hours, and reliable transportation is necessary.
