Things That Go Bump in the Night

During the most haunting time of the year, dare to experience Fenimore Farm’s annual Things That Go Bump in the Night Ghost Tours. Join an eerie lantern-lit tour of the shadowy museum grounds. Hear your guide recount the many mysteries and ghostly happenings that have occurred in the 19th-century historic village, as in the tale of a young ghost who roams the rooms of Bump Tavern or the mysterious early morning strikes on the anvil in the Blacksmith Shop. The event is inspired by Louis C. Jones’s classic collection of folk tales, “Things That Go Bump in the Night,” a timeless record of haunted history and restless spirits in New York State.

Family Farm Fun!

Parents are encouraged to bring their young children on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in July and August for a fantastic educational program, Family Farm Fun! Each day, kids explore the museum’s historic village and working farm, meet new friends, and make lasting memories. Stories, songs, special guests, games, and craft activities impart a sense of our rural heritage and the bountiful natural and cultural resources we enjoy. While best suited for children ages 4–8, children of all ages find enrichment in this program.

Glimmer Nights

In 2024, Fenimore Farm hosted the second annual Glimmer Nights, a six-week holiday light show extravaganza! Guests of all ages experienced the magic of the museum on a self-guided walking tour through a wonderland of elaborate, multi-colored light displays. The path winds through the museum grounds, creatively illuminating the Historic Village, and accompanying weekly programs inspire holiday cheer. In its second year, Glimmer Nights brought thousands of visitors to Cooperstown and in turn, once again had a positive impact on our regional economy during the holiday season. As always, we are thrilled to be a part of annual family traditions, and to help “shine a light” on Cooperstown during the quiet winter season.
