Museum Teacher

The Farmers’ Museum and Fenimore Art Museum seek retired school teachers, professionals, or those with an enthusiasm for sharing 19th Century history with kids of all ages. The position is seasonal (March – June/September-November) with minimal and varied hours, but provides many opportunities for learning trades and crafts from the past. Training will be provided.  Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills and be comfortable speaking in a one-on-one or group setting.

Garden Hacks

Garden Hacks
Sundays, April 8-October 28, 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Location: Main Barn

 

Garden Hacks is a weekly program where we share our favorite tried-and-tested gardening tips with you. On Sunday, April 8, we will set up our worm farm for the season. Our worm farm is named Put Your Worms to Bed! and will be a working composting method on display throughout the season. This is a great chance for visitors to learn how to set up and maintain a worm composting farm!

Full and part-time seasonal positions April - October

The Farmers’ Museum is seeking history-minded, outgoing individuals to work as heritage interpreters in our mid-19th century rural village. These positions are seasonal (April-October), with employment up to 5 days per week. Training will be provided. Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills and be comfortable speaking in a one-on-one or group setting. Being a team player and engaging with the public are essential qualities.

If you enjoy speaking with students and visitors of all ages this is the job for you! Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills and be comfortable speaking in a one-on-one or group setting. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
