Info: The Dimmick House once stood at 21 Mechanic Street in Norwich. It was built in the Greek Revival style and was once the home of a lockkeeper on the Chenango Canal. Currently being restored, the house will depict life in a middle class home in upstate New York.
Provenance: The Farmers' Museum acquired the house from the Norwich Family YMCA on February 16, 2000. *Norwich Family YMCA, Norwich, NY bought the house from Gard and Linda Turner on February 25, 1999. *Gard and Linda Turner bought the property from Lois Moubar on March 25, 1996. *Lois Moubar bought the property from Evelyn Geske on June 6, 1968. *Evelyn Geske and Lois Knapp acquired the property from Walter and Evelyn Geske on June 6, 1968. *Walter and Eveyln Geske bought the property from Pearl Fuller Geske on September 9, 1966. *Pearl Filler Hill acquired the property from the estate of Sophia Jennings on May 19, 1966 (Hartley Ackley and Kenneth B. Huyck were the executors). *Sophia Jennings was willed the house by her mother Frances Fuller who died in 1907. *Frances Fuller acquired the house through her father Hosea Dimmick's will in 1889. *Hosea and Sophia Dimmick bought the property from DeWight and Sophia Merill on September 5, 1853 for $1,350
